I dont know about them faking their shows but both are certainly very exciting.To be honest I like Bear better than Les.that maybe because he is on the move and not sitting in one place like Les.

To say les stroud is fake is personally offending me, he is legit, look at his background, for his honeymoon with his wife he stays out in the wild for 1 whole year, he lives off the grid in a self sufficient home. he is 100% legit ,if you’re wondering how he gets this amazing shots. he IS a film maker thats his job.

I have it on good authority from a source whom prefers to stay in the shadows and make negative comments about people he knows nothing about that; Rich Santoro is an indicted and convicted pedophile. This source also has told me of the time Rich molested a dead goat. It must be true; it is on this forum!!! LOL How does that feel Rich? Fair? No?

You are an absolute idiot! I have had the pleasure of knowing Les for a number of years. Les is an honest guy who takes pride in his reputation. He would never have done what you have said. I wouldn’t even consider asking Les about this rumour so i did the next best thing; A member of the safety crew for this episode had a falling out with the producers about a year after this episode was shot. He is not a fan of Les at all, yet he still says Les never went to a hotel.

I find all these posts highly amusing.
The haters, the idolizers, the ‘experts’..

No show will ever prepare you for a real survival situation.. However they may give you some insight on how to go about surviving.

Take the advice as you personally see it, use your logic.

Oh, and to 98: It’s not hard to set camera’s up and know where you need to stand to be well framed. Autofocus exists (and is used as you should be able to tell when raindrops make it on to the lens).

Les does walk ahead and set up cameras. Or sets up cameras walks away for the shot, and comes back to retrieve them.

I personally prefer Survivorman over MvW.
MvW will have people taking stupid risks if they ever do find themselves in a situation.
That alone sways my personal opinion.

ok first off id like to say im not saying wether or not one or the other is fake only pointing out things that are done better by bear grills. And for those of you who say its real give me evidence that its not well where is your evidence that it is real you are just as wrong as everyone else by saying its one way or the other. AND it seems to me there are a whole lot of people that visit this site that “know and worked” with Les it seems to me that if you have to lie about who your are to defend him you yourself are concerned with his legitimacy it doesn’t matter because none of us believe you anyways and if it is you then go to photobucket and upload a picture of your photo id birth cert. One thing about Les that stuck out to me is that when he is on the ocean he has no water for 2 days only one more day and you would die from dehydration yet he shows no signs of even fatigue from not having water now given i wasn’t paying much attention when i watched it i could be wrong i dont know if he drank anything for sure. Next thing being he complains all the damn time like “oh they said go to belize and survive for seven days good idea i am going to have a word with my producers when i get back” then when he gets out of the rainforest he says im never going back there again… have you ever noticed how he only has like 1 episode where he goes into the rain forest THATS BECAUSE HE IS SCARED OF THE ANIMALS WHICH HE ADMITS! he really needs to stop complaining if he doesn’t enjoy it then dont do the show oh my camera gear is heavy moving it a whole ten feet well if your gonna be that much of a whiner than invite your crew over from their campsite and have them film for you because you being wether its 50 foot or 1 mile from your crew your still not alone and not doing the show any justice by keeping them out of site you say his gear is heavy and it wears you out TRY FREE CLIMBING A 200 FOOT CLIFF USING A TINY VINE. Another thing is they HAVE to keep safety crews nearby otherwise they couldn’t legally air the show only difference is bear doesn’t hide his crew he keeps them there and he gets a hell of a lot more accomplished by not filming it himself. Also he doesn’t seem to know a lot about the things he is eating or using doesn’t know a lot of plant or animal names like bear does and bear will stop just to point out a poisonous plant and show you how to identify it his survival techniques are way more diverse and clever it seems Les drinks only coconuts not what plants you can dig up and drink the water from its roots. and he does bring way to many supplies he had freaken snorkling goggles with him for gods sake in two episodes ive watched now and the point of the shows are supposed to be you get stuck in the utmost survival situation and most the time assuming you are unprepared thats the reason i watch these shows is to know what to do when i have nothing. In the last episode i watched he found stagnent water and said this could be riddled with parasites but im willing to risk it well bear wouldn’t encourage that unless it was safe. and to say bear doesn’t show his mistakes BS he makes a mistake in almost every episode and tells you about it in fact the last episode i watched he mentioned how he made the mistake of eating meat that was to old and he wouldn’t be doing that again. and screw sitting around waiting to die i want to know what i need to look for and where i need to go to get out alive instead of sitting around hoping to get rescued but the fact is so many people get lost and are never rescued because the wild is a big place and hard to track down just one person. Now the dude is using a flare to start a fire come on and do it the hard way so we know how to do it when we dont have flares. and the fact that he got a freaken raft with supplies bear builds his own rafts and finds his own supplies he only brings a cantine a knife and a fire starter and sometimes he doesn’t bring a fire starter or a cantine. Bear is so much more bad ass even if it was fake he gets into extremely life threatening situations that even with a camera crew nearby they wouldn’t get time to save him if something went wrong. And what people dont understand is before the show bear is sometimes presented with situations to demonstrate how to survive meaning he doesn’t always encounter these situations on his journey so after filming they will find a location and have him get across a ravine or something so what he still does it just because its “right next to a road and not a valcano” like the guy way above mentioned doesn’t mean that its not dangerous as hell. and as for the desert episode which i have not seen in over a year you say he had the hot air balloon because they were simulating if you were in a crash right? well didn’t they already give him a truck so what did he manage to crash both of them? if bear is gonna have an entire truck worth of supplies to survive off he is going to find the truck himself. He is nothing but a whiney complaining and not to mention and out of shape fatty. and all the arguing about him being real and the best! you know this is a completely nonsensical argument just shut your mouth and think before you speak! oh and to all you people who say “oh go out and survive yourself” NO im not going to cuz first off me and 90% of the people on here dont have and dont claim to have the proper survival skills or the want to eat bugs and drink piss but i can guarantee you if i did i wouldn’t fucking complain like him especially not if i was on national television except i probably could survive like les cuz he doesn’t do shit ever he only shows very basic survival techniques and its always the same where as bear shows a whole shit ton of different things every episode is completely different in all aspects and i could never in a million years do the things he does because he is fucking nuts get it straight! one last thing to the person that mention him cheating because his camera crew has a boom lift well thats not bear they are not the ones suposed to be surviving he is if i was filming and not getting paid nearly as much and not on tv you can be sure as shit i wouldn’t be risking my life and eating bugs and how is it cheating they show all of his climbs and descents and he most certainly doesn’t use the lift or ankers. and so what if it was true about him staying in a hotel 2 nights out of the 50-60 weeks he has done this show you really think its that big of a deal i can gaurentee you by health and safety regulations he was required to leave for the night to recoup just like when Les was required to spend the night on the boat and now im done try and argue that!

I dont know which episode you are talking about, however, in my opinion, there is NO WAY LES STROUD is doing his own camera work! I’ve seen to many flaws. It’s impossible to get perfectly framed and fucused film footage of HIMSELF from across rivers, deep in a crack in the arctic and just today I caught the last 15 minutes of Mr Stroud in the Georgia Althamah River Basin. Mr Stroud was on a makeshift raft, in the water and the camera was on dry land filming Mr Stroud falling off the raft, getting back on and falling off a numbedr of times. The focus was perfect as was tghe “framing” of the action…At least Man vs WIld has a disclaimer before his dopey show starts.
